Everything about how Pheno works — testing, results, privacy, and Pheno for companies. Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch and we'll answer it.
Pheno is a Swedish health platform built around regular blood testing. You choose a programme, give a blood sample at a partner lab near you, and get your results in the Pheno app — with clear explanations, trends over time, and a personal plan for what to do next.
For anyone who wants to understand and improve their health with real data instead of guesswork — whether you're optimising performance, managing energy and stress, or simply want a proper baseline. You must be 18 or older to use Pheno.
Pheno is currently available in Sweden. Blood draws take place through the SYNLAB network — their own labs in the Stockholm area, Uppsala and the Gothenburg area, plus sampling partners around the country. The app always shows the locations nearest you.
Create your account with Mobilt BankID — it takes under a minute, no passwords or forms. Then choose your programme, order in a few taps, and visit a partner lab when it suits you. Your results appear in the app a few days after your draw.
No. Your Pheno programme includes the lab requisition — you just show up at the lab with photo ID. No referral, no appointment with a doctor first.
A single test is a snapshot; the value compounds when you can see direction. Your programme is built around a full year of measurement, so you can see what's improving, catch drift early, and know whether the changes you make actually work.
No — and it's not meant to be. Pheno gives you information and education about your own biology; it does not diagnose, treat or prevent disease, and it never replaces professional medical advice. If anything in your results worries you, talk to your doctor or call 1177. In an emergency, always call 112.
Four programmes, from a focused core panel to our complete panel: Essential, Standard, Longevity and Max. They differ in how many biomarkers are analysed and in depth — Longevity adds biological-age tracking, and Max is the complete panel with wearable integration. See What we test for the full comparison.
It ranges from 66 markers on Essential up to 119 on Max. That figure covers both measured biomarkers and the derived indicators calculated from your results (like insulin-resistance and liver indices) — on Max, 85 biomarkers and 34 KPIs. The exact panel is personalised: some markers only apply based on your sex and age.
Your membership year is built around planned test moments: an annual baseline, focused retests, and a mid-year review. The app tells you when each test window opens and what it includes.
Yes — biomarker panels may evolve as new science emerges. You always get the latest version of your programme's panel.
Every programme includes lab-grade blood analysis at accredited Swedish laboratories, secure handling of your health data, clear explanations in plain language, personalised recommendations, and health tracking over time in the app.
Biological age is an estimate of how old your body is functioning, calculated from a set of blood biomarkers — as opposed to how many birthdays you've had. It's included in the Longevity and Max programmes, and because it's measured from blood, you can actually track it changing.
Yes. You can move between programmes in the app, and the price difference is settled fairly on your next invoice. You can also upgrade a single upcoming test to a bigger panel without changing your membership.
Yes. Before an upcoming draw, you can expand that single test to a bigger panel as a one-time purchase — your membership stays unchanged. Handy when you occasionally want the full picture without committing to a bigger programme year-round.
Yes, in three ways: add-on packages (focused bundles like heart, hormones, thyroid or gut health), extra tests (an extra run of a full panel outside your normal schedule), and individual markers (build your own basket from our catalogue).
Focused bundles designed around a single question: Heart Complete, Metabolic & Insulin, Men's Hormones, Men's Health 40+, Women's Hormones, Fertility & Ovarian Reserve, Thyroid Autoimmune, Autoimmune Screen, Gut & Digestive Health and Active B12 Status. You can add them to any programme.
Yes. After a test, the app can build you a personalised retest panel from the markers that were out of range, so you can follow up on exactly what matters — usually at a lower cost than a full panel.
It combines a stool sample with a blood draw. You collect the stool sample at home — at the lab you only pick up the kit and hand it back.
Yes — bundle discounts apply automatically as your basket grows. A small fixed lab fee is added once per order to cover the blood draw itself.
At a SYNLAB lab near you. SYNLAB runs its own labs in the Stockholm area, Uppsala and the Gothenburg area, and works with sampling partners around Sweden. The app shows locations with opening hours and picks out the nearest one to you.
No — just walk in during opening hours. Bring photo ID.
About 10 minutes. The lab handles everything; your requisition is already in their system when you arrive.
Fast 10–12 hours before your draw — water, black coffee and tea (no milk or sugar) are fine. Come in the morning if you can; it's best for fasting and time-sensitive markers. The app reminds you of exactly this before every test.
For companies, yes — our nurses run blood draws at your office. For individual members, sampling currently takes place at our partner labs.
Test windows are open for about two months, so there's plenty of room. If you still miss one, the app will guide you — and you can always add an extra test later.
Usually within a few days of your draw. You'll get a notification when everything is ready in the app.
You get your Pheno Score with physical and mental components, every biomarker with your value on its range, trends across your check-ins, plain-language explanations of what each marker means, and a personal action plan. On Longevity and Max you also get your biological age.
Your results are quality-checked and clinician-reviewed. The app clearly flags anything that needs attention — and for anything that worries you, your own doctor is always the right next step.
Pheno uses functional and optimal ranges designed for preventive health, which can be narrower than standard laboratory reference ranges (those typically cover the central 95% of the general population). That's deliberate: we're showing you where thriving looks like, not just the absence of illness.
The app clearly flags results that need attention and tells you when to seek care. But Pheno is not an emergency service and does not diagnose disease — if you feel unwell or your results worry you, contact your doctor or 1177. In an emergency, call 112.
Yes. Every biomarker is shown with its measured value and unit, and you can bring your results to any healthcare provider. Many members do exactly that — it makes the conversation with your doctor much more concrete.
Your results and trends, a personal action plan, education about every marker in plain language, reminders around your test windows, and Pheno's AI — a health companion that knows your results and can answer questions about them, in Swedish or English.
It explains your results in context — your values, your trends, your wearable data — and helps you understand what to focus on. Every response carries a clear reminder that it's informational insight, not medical advice, and it's built to hand you to real care (1177, 112) when a question is beyond its scope.
It's built conservatively. Responses are checked by a safety layer before you see them, a disclaimer is attached to every health-related answer by the system itself, and the AI always defers to healthcare when something needs a professional. All AI processing runs within the EU. It remains an informational tool — decisions about your health belong with you and your doctor.
Oura, Whoop, Garmin, Fitbit and Withings. Your sleep, activity, recovery and body data are shown alongside your blood results, with your test dates overlaid so you can connect what you do with what your blood says.
No — Pheno is built around blood testing, and works fully without a wearable. If you have one, connecting it adds daily context between tests.
Your membership runs annually and includes your programme's test moments through the year plus full access to the app. You can pause, change programme, or cancel — if you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current period, and your historical data stays in your account so you can rejoin any time.
Through secure Stripe checkout — by card, or with options like Klarna and mobile wallets where available.
See our current programmes and pricing on the What we test page and in the shop.
Test credits can be redeemed within 12 months of purchase. Once a biological sample has been collected, we can't issue refunds for that test — except where required by law or in cases of verified laboratory error. If something goes wrong on our side, we make it right.
Yes, directly in the app. Pausing keeps your data and account; resume whenever you're ready.
Yes — Pheno for companies is a dedicated offering with team onboarding, on-site blood draws and aggregate insights for the employer. Point your HR or People team to our For business page, or have them contact sales@pheno.health.
Yes. Share your personal referral link and your friend gets 15% off their subscription — and you get 250 kr in credit toward one-off tests for every friend who joins (credits are valid 12 months). Refer five friends and your next membership year is half price.
In the EU, full stop. Your health data is stored in Stockholm, all processing — including AI — runs in EU regions, and we don't move your data outside the EU.
You do. Your results are yours: you can view everything in the app, share it with your doctor if you choose, and close your account at any time. We use your data to deliver the service to you — not to sell to anyone.
Log-in is through Mobilt BankID, so your identity is verified without passwords. Your personal identity number is never stored in readable form. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access within Pheno is strictly limited and logged.
Never. Employers only ever see aggregate, anonymised statistics — and only when the group is large enough that no individual could be identified (at least 10 employees for any health statistic). Your individual results are never shared with your employer, and you can additionally opt out of the aggregate statistics entirely without losing any access.
Yes. You can close your account at any time from within the app or by contacting support@pheno.health, and you can exercise all your GDPR rights — access, correction, deletion, portability — by contacting team@pheno.health.
We use first-party product analytics only — no third-party ad trackers, no session recording, no selling of data. Analytics never touch your clinical data, and you can pause product analytics entirely from your profile settings.
A preventive health programme for your team: each employee gets their own private Pheno programme, our nurses come to your office for blood draws, and you get aggregate insights into how your organisation is actually doing — energy, stress, recovery — without ever seeing anyone's individual data.
A nurse runs the draws at your office — one calm morning, no clinic visits. We coordinate dates with you, employees are notified and confirm attendance in advance, and our nurses arrive with everything prepared.
Two ways: personal email invitations, or a reusable invitation code you share internally. Employees sign up with BankID, accept the terms themselves, and their seat activates automatically. Employees never pay anything themselves.
Seat and participation status (who has activated, upcoming visits, sign-up progress) — and aggregate health insights only: your organisation's overall score and trends, category breakdowns, participation. No individual results, ever. Health statistics only appear at all once at least 10 employees have results, and every employee can opt out of the statistics without you being told who.
An executive report with participation and quarterly score trends, and — once enough peer data exists — a benchmark report comparing your organisation against similar companies, with findings you can share with your board via a secure, expiring link. Benchmarks only ever use data from at least 3 companies and 30 individuals, so no company or person is identifiable.
Pricing depends on team size and programme — contact sales@pheno.health for a proposal. Billing is by annual invoice (30 days), with mid-year changes prorated. There's no automatic renewal: each contract year is agreed together.
Pheno for companies is designed as preventive occupational health. Our Work Health programme focuses on the biology of working life — stress, recovery, energy and workload — with on-site sampling and aggregate insights that support your systematic work-environment efforts. How it fits your company's setup and budget is something we walk through together — and your tax advisor has the final word on the specifics.
You deactivate their seat in the admin portal. Their account and health history remain their own — they can continue on a private membership if they wish, and their data is never transferred to your company. The employee is notified when their seat is deactivated.
Yes — contact us and we'll connect their existing account to your agreement so they keep their history. Self-service support for this is on its way.
Yes — employees can expand an upcoming test to a bigger panel as a personal purchase, paid privately and never visible to or billed to the company.
Yes. A GDPR processor agreement covering the aggregate analytics is part of onboarding, accepted digitally by your authorised admin in the portal.
Yes, though with a privacy-first caveat: aggregate health statistics only unlock at 10+ participating employees. Smaller teams still get the full individual experience for every employee plus participation overview — many small teams start there.
Your samples are analysed by SYNLAB, whose Swedish laboratories are accredited by SWEDAC (accreditation no. 10367) under ISO 15189, the international standard for medical laboratories. The accreditation covers the laboratory analysis of your samples.
Yes. Pheno AB is registered as a healthcare provider (vårdgivare) with IVO, the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate.
Every biomarker in Pheno carries referenced ranges and explanations grounded in published research and clinical practice, and panels evolve as the science does. Wearable metrics likewise use published reference standards rather than vendor defaults.
